Critical Incident Desensitization Protocols (CIDP):
Psychological First Aid for Traumatized Persons
CIDP is a set of psychological first aid protocols excellent for anyone working with traumatized populations in social services, residential, schools, non-profit, and ministry settings. These tools help de-escalate persons who are in heightened distress within 1-3 minutes. When used within the first month of a traumatic event, CIDP helps reduce the risk of a person developing PTSD.
The tools, developed by Roy Keissling (founder, EMDR Consulting) use the science of bilateral stimulation (BLS) to quickly target distressing feelings and images and reduce their intensity. CIDP are excellent for anyone serving people who are easily escalated, triggered, and unable to manage overwhelming thoughts and emotions coming from traumatic or distressing experiences. They help the brain move past the distressing event to access the thinking/problem solving part of the brain, and get “un-stuck”.

Understanding Trauma Recovery
In this seminar, you will gain a foundational understanding of two main types of trauma: type A and type B. You will examine common misconceptions that keep people stuck in life due to lack of knowledge. We will cover the causes of each type, how they differ symptomatically, and what is uniquely needed for each type on the path to recovery. We will discuss a broad overview of therapy modalities, lifestyle changes, and other resources that can contribute to trauma recovery.
For faith-based settings, we will additionally look through the lens of the Bible to understand the spiritual implications of trauma and what has been made available through Jesus Christ for healing and deliverance. You will learn spiritual interventions to minister freedom to yourself and those around you.
